Leaking Radiators

Radiators come in a range of sizes and styles, including ladder radiators, hospital radiators, towel warmers, kick space radiators, skirting heaters and fan assisted radiators. An ordinary radiator is a double skin of metal through which hot water flows. At the top is a bleed valve to let out any air. There are also double and even triple panel radiators available.

Leakages must be dealt with immediately. A leaking radiator can cause a lot of damage to floorboards or carpets, especially when the dripping water is dark brown in colour. Bleeding the radiator may sometimes help, but it can be a short-term solution. A leak can occur at the spindle, at the coupling or can be caused by corrosion. The radiator will need to be removed, flushed and re-fitted or replaced. At times the valve may need repairing or replacing. Our plumbers can efficiently power flush the system by using a powerful pump to flush out the dirty water.
