Leaking TapsDripping taps are a common problem. Leaving a tap dripping not only wastes water but can lead to stained fittings. Leaking taps can be due to a number of causes. One of these is the failure of a seal known as an O-ring. In this case, tap washers need restoring. Rubber washers are the most common type of seals used in tap design, with the more modern alternative being ceramic cartridges. Another cause of water escaping from the tap can be from a scratched ceramic disc, where the whole cartridge would need replacing. But it can also be due to a damaged valve seating.
